VA Benefits

Florida Aviation Academy is a FAA Part 141 and VA-approved pilot training school. The Veteran’s Administration reimburses qualified veterans directly at 60 percent of the cost of approved flight training hours, up to the maximum time and money for which you qualify.

There are specific requirements and exceptions for the VA Benefits. You must enroll in an FAA-approved Part 141 program such as the Florida Aviation Academy Professional Pilot training program. The VA will reimburse 60% of the cost of dual and solo flight, dual simulator training, pre- and post-flight briefings, and ground school up to the maximum VA allotment for each program.

There is no reimbursement for training towards your private pilot license (the VA considers it recreational). Books and supplies are not eligible for VA reimbursement. Florida Aviation Academy also provides FAA Part 61 programs that do not qualify for benefits.

A Veterans Application for Benefits form should be completed and returned to our Admissions Office along with your DD214 prior to enrolling at the Academy. Florida Aviation Academy will then submit the appropriate forms to the VA along with an Enrollment Certification. After each month of training, we will total all training hours (flight and ground) completed and submit a Monthly Certification Form to the VA. The VA will then reimburse you directly, based on your benefit eligibility. It can take up to 120 days from the time we submit your paperwork for you to receive your reimbursement.
